This publication provides an instrument of arts, design, playful, workshop, meeting, and travel to make a new strategy in the future of the community design services with the professionals, agencies, and organizations.  An instruction by participatory practices, an example of guidance, is very useful for beginners and advanced professionals and researchers to advise youth people a great deal to organize by them in groups. [**Read More**](https://www.edra.org/page/2019_achievement_award_publication) --- Student Affairs *Contributed by **Jinoh Park**, Student Representative to the EDRA Board of Directors (2018-2019)* **Student Workshop** — On May 22nd, there was Graduate Student Mentoring Workshop at EDRA50. 12 EDRA student members had a great opportunity to improve their research qualities through perspectives of mentors: Alan Horwitz, Mohamed Cherif Amor, Sue Weidemann, Melissa Marsh, Varis Nott Niwatsakul, Christina Bollo, and Laura B. Cole. The Graduate Student Mentoring Workshop is an important legacy of EDRA as a virtuous circle of senior researchers and junior researchers. I hope someday these mentees will become mentors and help mentees in the future. **Student Happy Hour** — On May 22nd, after the graduate student mentoring workshop, there was Student Happy Hour. Even though it was the first time event, there were 24 graduate student participants from all around the world. During the student happy hour, the students introduced their backgrounds and shared their research interests. They have common research themes: Environmental Research for a) Community, b) Methods, c) Well-being, d) Education, e) Housing, and f) Technology. Based on the themes, EDRA Student Research Network is going to be established by inviting EDRA student members.  **Student Awards** — Kali Marnane’s “What Village Are You From? Understanding the origins and morphology of informal settlements in Ahmedabad, India” was selected as the EDRA50 Student Best Paper Award Winner after reviewing 23 student papers. Her paper shows high quality as much as every reviewer selected her paper as the prize winner. Also, in the Student Best Design Awards, there were two winners: Erin Colwell “Staying Power: Millennial Travel Behavior, Instagram Use, and Sustainable Hotel Design for Cities” and Kristy Kellom “A Design-Oriented Approach of Preparedness Against Active Shooters: A Case of Evaluating a University Student Lounge.” Five juries had scored 60 student posters, and the two winners’ posters got the same score up to decimal places. --- Industry News [Chicago aims to be ‘most accessible’ city in the nation, Lightfoot says](https://chicago.curbed.com/2019/7/26/8931896/chicago-accessible-intersection-pedestrian-safety?fbclid=IwAR2PlCrFBko6EaKms3Cqohqm-XwDaZcu93hcZZdDXNkrL8535CEoMIxeUR4) Posted: Jul 26, 2019 | Over a period of two years, the city will install up to 100 new traffic signals with audible beeps or vibrations to help people with blindness or low vision to cross the street, according to the mayor’s office. There was no Starbucks, Microsoft or Amazon then. Boeing was the primary employer and it had just laid off half of its workforce and cut the salaries in half for those remaining, including my Father who was an engineer. He was reassigned to a “hail Mary” project called the 747. I was forced to take a mailroom job at Safeco Insurance as a supervisor while saving money for college.
